PBD – the e-portfolio training company
PBD is a training provider specialising in early years and playwork. Our owner/directors, Ross and Alison Midgley, previously set up and managed a group of three day nurseries which each achieved outstanding Ofsted results. Their investment in training and development for over 75 staff during that period resulted in a deep understanding of what a good training provider must do to succeed.
We are based in offices close to Haverhill (between Cambridge and Braintree) but we cover the whole of England.
We are members of the Technology Exemplar Network, a small group of training providers specially selected as leaders in the innovative use of technology. Our pioneering use of e-learning and web based evidence portfolios means that learners achieve faster, with minimal disruption to their job – no paper files to maintain, or classes to attend.
All our learners have free access to eQual Learning, our own unique suite of interactive, web based courses. Learners can access these courses via the internet, work through them at their own pace with support from their assessor, and complete assignments online.
We offer QCF accredited qualifications for early years practitioners, playworkers and teaching assistants. We also specialise in business and administration, management and customer service for those working in any sector, as well as the level 3 PTLLS certificate which is now a legal requirement for anyone delivering adult teaching or training. And we can provide employers with a complete outsourced training management service.
We are accredited as a training centre by City and Guilds and we hold a direct contract from the Skills Funding Agency which gives us guaranteed access to apprenticeships funding. Foir adults, this allows us to deliver most qualifications for only a small charge: training for those under 19 is free.
Our assessors and trainers are all qualified professionals with many years of hands on experience and success in their field of expertise. As a company, we are a recognised Investor in People and we are accredited under the Matrix standard for the quality of the information, advice and guidance that we provide.
Employers often comment on our assessors’ commitment to learners and on their professionalism, flexibility and good communication - which sets us apart from many of the other training providers in our field.
