I see that providers are still pushing the level 5 in care management to people working in early years settings. Today, for instance, we received an invitation to sign up for £999 with just a £99 deposit. (Why did they send it to a training provider, I wonder?)
For the avoidance of doubt, the Level 5 Diploma in Health & Social Care and Children & Young People’s Services is not an early years qualification. While it may be possible for some nursery managers to find a selection of units they can do, this is a care qualification designed for those working in children’s homes etc.
The real deal for early years practitioners is the similarly named, but different Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for the Children and Young People’s Workforce (Early Years). This is a specialist qualification for early years. PBD has developed a challenging, top quality programme in combination with a leading academic and is busy concluding agreements with colleges which will allow those who achieve the L5 to move straight into the second year of a foundation degree programme.
We have met lots of people at trade shows who have been aghast to discover that the qualification they have signed up for is not what they thought it was. Make sure you sign up for the right qualification for your job role. PBD is not in the business of selling inappropriate qualifications and will always try to offer impartial advice – call us on 01440 731731 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
