Recent changes in government funding
On 20 July, all training providers and colleges received a letter from the head of the Skills Funding Agency explaining that, because of government cuts, future growth in funding would be limited to apprenticeships.
As a result we have no uncommitted funding for the forthcoming year for any non-apprenticeship delivery, which includes standalone maths and English.
This is a very strange decision by a government which keeps claiming to give priority to maths and English, but we are powerless to charge the situation.
With immediate effect, free maths and English training will be limited to apprentices (in any sector) whose training is delivered either by PBD, or by another provider which has contracted PBD to deliver maths and English on its behalf.
We intend to go on offering high quality online GCSE training, with personal tutor support, to all those who need it, whether to qualify as early years educators or for any other career progression. However we will now be forced to charge for this in order to employ tutors and maintain the learning resources.
We intend to keep the cost to the absolute minimum and to offer instalment payment to those who need it. We are currently reviewing our pricing and will publish an update here as soon as possible.
