PBD has just launched its own range of Certificates in Advanced Early Years Practice, aimed at qualified practitioners in a range of job roles. These qualifications are based on a selection of the units from the City & Guilds Level 5 Diploma, and carry 35-40 credits on the Qualification and Credit Framework (QCF), compared with the 80-90 for the full Diploma.
We are finding that for each person in the leadership role which is necessary to achieve the full Diploma, there are often three or four candidates who are keen to progress beyond level 3 but who are not yet able to demonstrate the full range of competences. With these new certificates, they can accumulate a selection of accredited QCF units, receive recognition for their achievement and then choose to top up to the full level 5 Diploma when they achieve a promotion or new responsibilities.
Initial certificates cover the new Room Leader, the SENCO/ENCO, the Safeguarding Designated Person, the EYFS Specialist, the Speech and Language Specialist and the Advanced Baby Practitioner. Practitioners can also choose a tailor made selection of units to create their own certificate. We are also launching a separate certificate in Advanced Childminding Practice. Each certificate is priced at £950, with an interest free payment plan available.
