City & Guilds
PBD is an accredited City & Guilds centre. City & Guilds is the UK’s leading vocational awarding body, offering more than 500 qualifications over 28 industry sectors, through 8,500 approved centres in around 100 countries worldwide.
Centres offering City & Guilds qualifications have to pass a demanding accreditation process and submit to regular verification audits to ensure that their standards and quality controls are up to scratch. As a result, a City & Guilds qualification – while not the easiest to achieve – carries a hallmark of quality and rigour, and is something of which candidates can be justly proud.
City & Guilds supports learners through SmartScreen, which offers a range of dedicated, unit-specific online support and resources to enhance your learning and achievement. In particular, it will:
- provide you with learning support 24 hours a day from anywhere with internet access

Over 2,500 centres across the UK offer NOCN qualifications. Designed with people in mind, NOCN qualifications offer a step-by-step, unit-by-unit route into learning and skills that help to increase learners’ confidence and employability and make sure that the qualifications fit with today’s industry needs.
For maths and English GCSE, PBD has registered as a centre with Pearson Edexcel, giving PBD the ability both to access funding for GCSE delivery and to hold examinations.
Pearson is the UK’s largest awarding organisation and is regulated by Ofqual, which is the regulator for the public examinations system in England and Wales. It offers academic and vocational qualifications that are globally recognised and benchmarked, with educational excellence rooted in names like Edexcel, BTEC, EDI and LCCI. Its academic qualifications include Edexcel GCSE, Edexcel A level, Edexcel International GCSE and the Edexcel Certificate (International GCSE for UK state schools).
